I did a lot of research for good quality puzzle mats to cover the floor of my home gym from wall to wall. A couple of photos of the finnished gym can be seen in the product photos above, although they look way nicer in person than in the photos. I was looking for light colored smooth mats because the black one that I had just under my universal weights always looked so dirty and was very difficult to clean because it was very porous and rubbery. These mats look much easier to wipe clean. These mats also feel so nice in general. Doing pushups/situps or any streatching on them feels awesome. At the same time the mats are dense enough that you do not feel the hard floor underneath.

I was debating whether to go for the 3/4 inch, but I am happy that I went with the 1/2 inch. I saved about $80 going with the 1/2 inch both in cost of the mats and estimated extra shipping weight. I think you would only really need the 3/4 inch if you are actually planning to grapple and throw people on the mats. The 1/2 inch are more than adequate for covering the floor of a regular gym area.

I ran on the treadmill today that is sitting on the mats and I was supprised an how much quieter and more stable the treadmil was on these mats compared to the thin mat that we bought from the treadmill company. As can be seen in the pictures, the mats locked together perfectly. Also, when I needed to cut the last row to fit It was very easy to do with a regular box cutter with a fresh blade. The whole project was done in less than a couple of hours.

When I was initially looking at the mats online I was having trouble figuring out if the wavy finnish was just a design on a mostly flat mat, or if the mats actually had a wave to them. They are actually wavy, but the wave is not so deep that they will become hard to clean. I was particularly concerned about the mats being easy to clean because I keep a litterbox in there for my cats, so the floor needs to be cleaned very regularly. The cats' nails do not seem to puncture the mats at all so far. I hope this helps.

I think the inexpensive price of the mats given the quality more than makes up for the high shipping costs.
