CAP Barbell Standard Plate and Bar Storage Rack Review

My wife bought this for me for the workout room we've been putting together. I took it out of the box a little over a month after receiving it to start putting it together and noticed some paint bubbles on the legs. As I was assembling pieces of the finish started to flake off revealing rusted metal underneath. I tried to clean and paint over the bad areas rather than return it to avoid the hassle but it was so bad it was peeling completely off as I was cleaning it. I would have ended up wasting more money than this horrible piece of equipment cost in the first place.

I emailed CAP about replacement parts or repairs and they told me I was out of the 30 DAY WARRANTY PERIOD! I have never heard of a company who only offers a 30 day warranty on something made essentially only of pieces of metal, they must realize how poor their materials and craftsmanship are themselves.

I will be trashing this item and buying the Body Solid, Powertec or much nicer York storage racks instead. Avoid this company and this product at all costs.

Polar RS300X SD Heart Rate Monitor Watch with S1 Foot Pod (Black) Review

I love this watch. I own a Garmin 305 as well which I bought after a disappointing experience with the RS200. My biggest disappointment with the RS200 was that the transfer using one's computer speaker became difficult to impossible after a few months. Although it is an additional purchase, the flow link has solved the problem of uploading data to a users computer. While most competitors don't charge extra for a device to upload data, Polar does include a very comfortable fabric heart rate monitor strap. To upgrade the Garmin rubber strap it costs about the same amount of money as the Flowlink for Polar watches so it is a wash in the end. Nobody does GPS better than Garmin and mine has been a reliable watch. Although my Garmin gives me heart rate information, it is very simple. Polar is certainly more of a training tool and better suited for runners who emphasize heart rate training over simply how far they went. Garmin can give you an aerial map of where you ran but this is not very important if you run the same few routes around where you live usually. I chose the foot pod so that I could track my training distance indoors and out with my polar. It definitely needs calibration but once that is done it gives data that is very close to the GPS distance. The pod is a little larger than other companies foot pods but it is still unnoticeable weight wise when running with it. It uses a single AAA battery and is waterproof and gets an estimated 20 hours of life. More important than the foot pod size, I appreciate the normal watch size. The Garmin is a brick and even the newer models can not be worn as a sport watch during other activities or at work due to their awkward size. I am very happy I decided give polar another chance.

Update 2/20/12
I feel obligated to revise my earlier review. As mentioned in my first review, I really wanted to like this watch. It has the fitness test, gives information to help determine if you are overtraining and has a variety of interval work out options. I had to dump my RS 200 when the strap on the watch finally broke after about 15 months and was integrated with the watch and not easily replaceable. With the RS 300, the watch band has held up and the flowlink data transfer worked pretty well. It does take a few attempts to upload data but ultimately gets the job done. The latest issue with my polar is the foot pod. The S1 foot pod which is huge compared to most other brands suddenly stopped working after 12 months. I paid to ship it back to polar with the original receipt and they sent it straight back. Although it is not mentioned anywhere on Polar's website, the 2 year warranty is invalid when your order from Amazon. You have to buy it from a recongnized dealer to have a warranty on this product. I have paid to ship it a second time to the orginal seller who agreed to repair it. I received it back today supposedly repaired but it is still clearly broken. I now must call and am hoping for a satisfactory response from JOMASHOP. I would have already bought another foot pod but they are close to $100--way too much to reinvest in polar when it may also break under normal use in a few months and will be impossible to get repaired or replaced under warranty.

Garmin may not be sleek and they may lack a couple of the heart rate related analytic functions polar has but my 305 still works after being dusted off recently. Later models from Garmin have gotten some criticism as well but if I decide to upgrade my watch it will not be with another Polar product.

I have had this mat for three months, using 3-4 times a week for a 1 hour class, and it falling apart, coming into pieces all over, and now on my clothes. I have never had this happen with a mat, and I have three other ones I still use that are nearly 5 years old. But this was a gift and I guess I broke it in! ASICS Men's GEL-Speedstar 6 Running Shoe, Twilight/White/Orange, 12 M US Review

I shopped around a bit before deciding to go for this. As with all ASICS, get a shoe that's half a size bigger than what you typically use. I am usually a size 9 in Nike shoes and I went for 9.5 in this. At first use, you will notice that this shoe is very lightweight, it fits perfectly to your foot, and it is very comfortable to walk around. I immediately tested it outdoors for a 5K run on the road and I have to admit, I was very impressed. It felt very comfortable, the impact was sturdy and it was easy to modify my running gait as the shoe fits like a glove. Just remember that the shoelaces tend to run a little short on this so I had to leave the last hole empty and double-tie the shoelace so it doesn't come off during a run or a workout.

I also used this shoe in a TRX / boot camp class and it did really well with jumping activities as well as sudden motions like skips, hops and twisting. It's a perfect pair for either running or working out. I also did get compliments from the design!

On a related note, I am on my feet at least 8 hours a day (I work as a Physical Therapist) and I use this shoe as well (I rotate it with 3 other shoes to avoid overusing the shoe). I swear I could wear this at work and in the gym and just for lounging in the house (although it may not smell so well after!) Just a good choice if you're looking for an all-around shoe that's lightweight and will not be as flimsy as a Nike Free Run or as Hard/Stable as an Asics Kayano. I've never been happier with the balance of this shoe. I highly recommend it. Just remember that this is more of a Neutral Shoe. If you need more support on your medial arch, I recommend getting the Green Superfeet insoles to replace the current one (http://www.amazon.com/Superfeet-Green-Premium-Insoles-Womens/dp/B0033BPBD4/ref=sr_1_1?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1366180820&sr=1-1&keywords=superfeet+green).

OK, so maybe they shouldn't call it a collar, since there is no way it is strong enough to be used alone. But for what it is, a safety device, it is excellent. The lights are bright enough to be seen at twilight, and it reflects headlights very well too.
I have been stopped frequently by people asking where I got it and how much it costs, so they obviously see the benefits of using this device as well. There are smaller light up tags out there, but in my opionion they are not nearly as visible as this collar.
Do you want your dog to be visible at night? Get this.

These shorts run really small, so where I am normally a large, I have to buy the 2XL. But I knew that going in, so it wasn't a problem. These are VERY comfortable shorts with a soft waistband. I hate the elastic waistbands on the Soffee shorts b/c they rub against your skin when you start to sweat. This waistband is covered with fabric. The shorts are a great length as well. They are a little short on me (5'3), but that's also what makes them so comfortable!

I bought these ASICS to be used as true cross-trainers as I'm recovering from ACL surgery. For physical therapy, I tried using my Nike Zoom Vomeros but they were way too soft when standing still, trying to do leg raises and such, so I got these ASICS since they were a good price. I'm usually a Nike guy because I like the AIR technology and I have a thinner foot so they usually fit me well. These ASICS fit well right out of the box, thankfully. I literally put them on and went to physical therapy with no break-in period. They felt great. Very stable for one legged exercises. My ankle didn't feel like it was going to collapse. They are also very light. Not at light at my Nike's but they are light for cross trainers with a lot of stability. The gel in the shoes provides a good amount of comfort without being too soft. I've now worn these shoes to 5+ therapy sessions and to work and when running around on errands and they are great. My foot doesn't get tired, I haven't had any blisters and the simply styling of them go well in the summer with shorts. Love the contrasting light blue on gray. They look just like the photo, btw. Maybe the gray might be a bit lighter in person, but not much lighter. Great shoe at a great price. As my therapy gets more intense, I think these shoes will continue to work well.
