First of all, I love using this product. It works, it's a great a warm up before working out, it turned my grip and wrists from weak to strong in under a month by using it for a half hour to an hour a day. It feels like it triggers every muscle fiber in the entire forearm, which many other wrist and forearm exercises do not do. All my friends loved it and were amazed by the concept of it. I will buy this product over and over no matter how many times it breaks.

All praise aside, the company clearly designs this product to be as durable as glass. It's called planned obscolescence - they make it poor so it will eventually break and you have to buy another. Drop it once, it's done. I've never used the $100 steel or iron ones, but i'm guessing they are higher quality, and i will invest in one next time.

If you buy this or the extremely low quality pro model, invest in a bouncy castle or a fully padded separate room in your house because you'll need one to protect it from breaking after the first time you accidentally drop it. The very nature of these balls leads into accidentally throwing it while starting it. My auto starter didn't work either. And for those with a weak grip, which is the main customer base, after getting it started, it's difficult to hold onto, which is the intent of the device, but also leads into accidental high velocity drops/throws.

It's also very tricky to start the device, but once you figure it out, it's pretty easy. Just spin it slowly at first and feel out the balance of the ball, then speed it up with each rotation. The natural tendency is to spin it too fast right away.

All in all, I love it and hate it at the same time because it works so well but is so easy to break. Somehow I made my last one live for two months of everyday use without dropping it, but I was incredibly careful every time not to drop it, but despite my quick reflexes and strong grip the inevitable happened and it broke against my floor and I proceeded to scream in anger over losing yet another gyro ball.

This is a very ironic item but I'll re-purchase it every time =)
