Everlast for Her Twist Board Review

(This is the same review I wrote for the Bally Twist Board, but this product is identical except for the color.)

We had one of these when I was a kid too (1960s). All of us kids fought over it (that's probably why my parents made it disappear). Now I can have one of my own. In fact, I have two. You get a better workout with two--one for each foot.

I fell on the ice this winter (rats!) and these little twister boards have been excellent to help work out the pain that still lingers in my right hip. I stand on them while I read and twist gently. I use light weights and dance around on, and off of, them to music. I keep them handy, near the kitchen, so I can use them whenever. I love them.

If you're concerned about them slipping on the floor just use some that Rubbermaid squishy shelf liner stuff underneath them. Hold onto a countertop if you're concerned about balance and turn your legs all the way in and out, together and separatley. You can mess around with weight transfer too--stand on one leg and twist the other or put weight right on the leg and twist. Both ways are fun and good movement increasers. You'll enjoy working your hips, obliques, and lungs (if you really get going) this way. I even put them on my kitchen stool tops and sit on them sometimes.

They're so inexpensive and so fun they're really worthwhile.

I shopped around and the cost of other name brand shoes of this type were price out of this world!! I mean really I know people pay upwards of $80-$130 for these colorful shoes but wow I live on a realistic budget! My daughter loves them, and wears them everyday! American Apparel Cotton Spandex Jersey Yoga Pant Medium-gray Review

I bought these in black and they were only ten dollars at the time. The fit is great and they are boot cut! I am about 5'7" and around 138. The pants have an inseam of 32 but after washing about 31. You can dress the pants up or wear as yoga wear. Basically if you have ever worn VS classic yoga pants these are for you. They fit in the top part and flare out. They hug your legs but in a flattering way. I do want to add with other pants I usually order a small but ordered a medium and am l gad I did. They run smaller than the VS pants. I hope this helps.

Updated December 8, 2011: I wanted to add, I wear these several times during the week. They wash well and the black has not seem to fade. I love the fact that even after wearing them all day, they do not get baggy, and they hug your body. I usually wear a dressier tunic with them with casual shoes or cowboy boots. I have received a lot of compliments on them. I am just amazed at how well they hold up. Most yoga pants will roll or fall down at the waist after a few hours of wear or they get loose in the legs, not these. I cannot tell you how comfortable these are.

Nike+ Fuelband White ICE Medium-Large Review

This product was purchased for me from Nike directly and while I was excited to receive it on Christmas day (2012), I was extremely disheartened that the accelerameter went bad before having the fuelband for 3 months. The accelerameter is a part inside the band that tracks your movement. I might add that the fuelband is not as accurate in my experience as the much less expensive pedometer. If you are not moving your arms, it is not accurately counting your movement. So for instance, if you are on the treadmill on a steep incline and holding on to the bars, it is not calculating your steps...that's just one example. Also, I just had to have the white ice color and within days it discolors to a dismal grey color. When I tried to return the product to Nike for the replacement since it was not calculating my movement any longer, I asked for a replacement in black ice and they declined, despite the two bands being the same price...go figure! The warranty on the band is better than you would expect at 1 year, so I still await my replacement...let's see how long this one will work...I am not encouraged!

TITLE MEDICINE BALL, 20 Review

I bought & just receieved my 20# Title medicine ball. The price was right. Quality is up to par with other medicine balls, Everlast etc.... The difference is you can get different weight sizes then everlasts only 9# & 12# balls. Plus the heavy 20# Title medicine ball was just as much as the everlasts 12# ball. Well worth it. Manduka eKO 3mm Yoga Mat (Acai) Review

I've practised on the Black & Purple Lite mats and this mat is right up there with the rest of them. The Black mat's too heavy for me as I travel frequently, and I find even the Purple Lite too heavy for shorter trips like hauling to & from the yoga studio. This Eko Lite's great for transporting/ travelling but still retains its heavy feel.

After a week of practice I can safely say it doesn't buckle like the other thin 3mm mats do. It sometimes looks as if the mat is uneven and doesn't sit flat on the floor smoothly, but when you're practicing you don't even feel it - it feels like a flat and solid mat. I practice in a heated room and after warming up, you do need a towel or yogitoes coz it gets slippery when wet (like most other rubber/ PVC mats too). But it grips well when doing a regular not-too-sweaty practice.
